Welcome
Thank you for visiting my poetry site. Below, you will find a selection of my poems from the past and the poems I have written recently. I hope you find something in these poems.
Click on the titles below to read the poems. Also, I’d love to hear your opinion on my site: – what did you like, – what don’t you like, – how can I improve it. All your comments are welcome.
I started writing poetry in 1971 at the age of 15. My early influences were songwriters such as Paul Simon, Billy Joel, Harry Chapin and Melanie. While I wanted to write songs, my natural ability with words quickly shone through and that is where I concentrated my efforts.
Over the years, I has written over 1400 poems with my most prolific years being 1977 to 1979. Friends encouraged me to get my poems published but I was very reluctant to do so. Then, in 1997, I established my own poetry web site where I published a small selection of my work. The frequent feedback from visitors has been very rewarding and encouraging.
A common theme runs through the feedback received from visitors to my web site. Most comment on my ability to move the reader through a whole range of emotions. Perhaps this comment made by one reader says it best: “Your poetry speaks to me in a way I thought nothing could.”
Since having my poetry published on the web, I has received many requests for the use of my poems. My poems have been read during weekly “stories, myths and poetry” sessions at a juvenile correctional facility in Southern California. Also, various newsletters have requested permission to reproduce some of my poems in their publications.
I have recently released a collection of previously unpublished poems through Ebookstand.com. The title of this collection is “Journeys”.
I live in Brisbane, Australia, with my wife, Marie.
