A New Life
by Kevin Sinclair
Saw the sparkle of sunlight
Reflecting off the morning dew
Gentle breezes fluffed up the leaves
Everything seems to be so new
There’s a fine haze in the distance
Dirty against the clear blue sky
We only see what we want to see
Don’t ask because I don’t know why.
Saw the crimson pink this morning
As the sun began to rise
There’s so much beauty in this world
Sometimes it just dazzles my eyes
Who am I to question nature
Just need to go with the flow
The seasons change, life rearranges
Don’t ask me why because I don’t know.
Saw a smile reflected in the mirror
Wondered if it was mine
They say that eyes can sparkle
Just like the dew in the sunshine
But when I am blind – don’t want to see
Because the chains are bound so tight
Need to search for that weak link
So I can make my way back into the light.
Saw the stars in all their splendour
On a night that was cool and clear
That night is my diamond
A memory to hold so very dear
And when the sun rises in the morning
To start another brand new day
Just say thank God I’m alive
I wouldn’t want it any other way.
Saw a reflection of a life
And there was a face hidden in shade
Wanted to reach out my hand
Wanted to come to your aid
To leave my selfishness behind
To turn from a bud into a bloom
Life just shouldn’t be lonely
When living in a well lit room.
Saw a seed sprout a shoot
A new life had been born
Just like coming out of the dark
And going forward with the dawn
Nature works her miracles
Providing inspiration when I care to look
She leaves nothing left to chance
Her words aren’t written in a book.
