Fears and Regrets
by Kevin Sinclair
Moving on into the night
He looked back over his day
What had he accomplished
Nothing.
Words were spoken in jest
He believed them to be the truth
He had been hurt by
Nothing.
Fears and regrets
Ate away his life
Fears and regrets
Took away his wife
Tears have been spent
Hurting with the pain
Of imaginary wounds
A battle weary hero
He laid down his knife.
Lost somewhere in a dream
He awoke with a fright
Looking around he saw
Nothing.
He made himself a promise
But he never carried it out
And so he was left with
Nothing.
Fears and regrets
Ate away his life
Fears and regrets
Took away his wife
Jealously burned bright
Leaving nothing but ashes
A love had been destroyed
The battle weary hero
Laid down his bloody knife.
Moving out of sight
Into the far distance
Just a hollow empty
Nothing.
