No More Sunsets
by Kevin Sinclair
She wakes up in the morning
Single in her double bed
Reaching out her arm to cuddle
But he isn’t there
It’s at these moments that she
Misses him so much
Where is his warmth?
Where is his tender touch?
She dreams of days gone by
When he held her tight
Whispering sweet nothings
In her ear
What went wrong she asks
But no one will explain
She folds her arms across her chest
To try to ease the pain.
Where is the love?
Where has it gone?
No more sunsets
Just waiting for the dawn.
She’s waiting at the station
For the train to arrive
Hope is in her heart
That love will survive
But is she dreaming
Are her prayers in vain
No one knows whether
There will be more pain.
Hearts skip a beat now
Is that his face she saw
Looking from the window
Did he notice her?
She feels faint at the prospect
His return unannounced
But all is not as it seems
Cause he’s just taking her down.
