Sweet Virgin Wine
by Kevin Sinclair
Drifting slowly like a lazy river
Hardly a ripple breaks your surface
As nothing seems to upset you
You round the bend with ease
As if it had never existed
And yet you still take all
Before you in your triumphant
March through this life you live.
There is a peace that lingers
In the cool sweet air that surrounds you
And everything that you touch
Has the stamp of your magic
You’re not a lonely old island
You’re a sweet cool calm ocean
Full of power that you can unleash
If anger takes you away.
And I want to hold you tight
Becoming part of your splendour
Partaking of your sweet virgin wine
That you have to share with me
Living in the glow of your charms
As your breathe blows me away
Like the freshly fallen autumn leaves
So much glory in their defeat.
But like the early spring blossom
It gives the hope and joy of a new life
A time of rebirth to share with all
It appears so easy the way you give
Partaking of your sweet virgin wine
Takes away my very breath
As you reach out and take my heart
Holding it so gently in your hand.
